The largest online retailer in Romania, eMAG, is investing 90 million euro in a new, state-of-the-art logistics center, which will cover an area of 130,000 square meters.

“This investment is a major step in the development of the next decade as we anticipate a massive migration of people to online commerce and an acceleration of business digitalization. The value produced by technology will be distributed to all those who contribute to the evolution of eMAG. Thus, we generate benefits for customers, for digital entrepreneurs in the eMAG Marketplace, for the community and for employees “, said Tudor Manea, CEO of eMAG.

“While until now employees were going to pick products off the shelf, with the help of new technology – a revolutionary picking system that will generate four times higher productivity, the goods will automatically reach the employees. Also, multiple orders will be merged into a single package, leading to a decrease in the volume and consumption of cardboard required for packaging. The processing time will decrease. The large storage capacity of the new warehouse will also increase the range of products in categories such as fashion or consumer goods, drinks, and food,” the company said in a press release.

eMag President, Iulian Stanciu: “Part of the challenge of building our own logistics infrastructure was committing to build a relationship with a General Contractor.  It was a leap of faith to trust Baupartner Group with building our vision on budget, on schedule, and with attention to quality.  The Group has exceeded our expectations and we consider them one of our trusted partners. They are an instrumental part of our business expansion.”
